Neck lift

About Neck Lift

No matter how well you take care of yourself and your skin, there comes a time when your skin loses its youthful elasticity. Unfortunately, this includes sagging skin. Sagging skin in the neck or neck is one of the aging processes that we are happy to help you get rid of. Although we can't stop time, we can certainly help you slow down the effects of time on your skin and sometimes even reverse them for a few years. If you suffer from too much loose skin in your neck or neck ('turkey neck') we have good news for you. This reduced elasticity of your skin can easily be remedied with a neck lift, also known as a Z-plastic.

No more turtlenecks, buttoned shirts and scarves! With our neck lift you can be proud of your neck again.

What happens with a Z-neck lift (Z-plastic)

This procedure is performed with local anaesthetic. In this procedure the surgeon makes an incision under your chin in the shape of a Z and removes the excess skin. This treatment only gives a result for the neck and leaves a visible scar. You may get the best result by combining this treatment with liposuction [link to liposuction]. It may also be that our surgeon advises a different procedure, or a combination of procedures because the muscles are slack as well. Ask our experience expert during a free consultation about the possibilities to realise your wishes.

What happens with a classic neck lift

This procedure is usually performed under general anaesthesia. The surgeon makes an incision behind the ears, sometimes up to the hairline. Then he carefully loosens the skin and shortens the muscles that are too flaccid. Then the skin is tightened and stitched. Sometimes a Z-plasty has to be performed to remove excess fat and skin and restructure the local muscles again.

The result

When the bandage comes off you will already see results. After 1 - 1.5 months the result is more visible. The scars are at the ear, under the chin or in the hairline. The plastic surgeon always performs the procedure in such a way that there are as few visible scars as possible. The result depends on the chosen procedure and the health of the patient. The effects of the neck lift remain visible for about 10-15 years.

Recovery after the neck lift

After the neck lift you usually don't feel much pain. Immediately after the procedure you wear a support bandage to prevent swelling and to speed up healing. You wear this bandage at least 1 week after the neck lift. There is a risk of swelling and bruising around the treated area. A few weeks after the neck lift you will usually already have an idea of the result. However, the final result of the neck lift, like almost all plastic procedures, can only be assessed after a year.
