We want to give you an idea of what happens during this procedure. First, the surgeon sucks fat out of the area you have determined. That fat is then filtered to be suitable for injecting into your buttocks. That is done in several layers for a fuller shape.

This may sound quite simple, but this procedure is complex. Fortunately, our plastic surgeons are widely experienced in performing this treatment. In addition, you will be given, during the procedure, a drainage to drain off excess lymph fluid.

The whole procedure takes an average of 2-5 hours and takes place under general anesthesia, which means improving other body parts during lipofilling is possible.

Your body will need to recover after the surgery. For example, the fat cells transferred to the buttocks need time to heal and develop a new blood supply. Therefore, we will provide you with specialized clothing after the treatment that puts pressure on the right places and promotes recovery.

In short: nicer, rounder, fuller buttocks! Your body will absorb part of the injected fat in a natural way, and it will disappear. To consider this, the surgeon injects more fat into your buttocks. This means your buttocks will, at first, look a little bigger than you might have expected. The result will be visible after 3 to 6 months. How long your new buttocks stay beautiful partly depends on the aftercare you apply. The better you follow our aftercare advice, the better the result. Your health, future pregnancies and weight fluctuations can also affect your buttocks

We will do everything we can to help your body recover as quickly as possible. You will be given a supportive compression garment immediately after surgery. This will keep your body in the desired shape and prevent excessive swelling. The swelling usually decreases after the first week. Bruises are also expected and typically disappear after surgery. Depending on how heavy the surgery is, you may have to spend a night in the hospital for observation.

You can return to work after about a week and a half. The compression garment should still be worn, preferably under loose-fitting clothing. Remember that after a week and a half, it is not yet possible to sit for an extended period (see also the sitting protocol). You should sleep on your stomach for two weeks after the procedure so that there is as little pressure on your buttocks as possible. After that, you may alternately sleep on your side but not yet on your back. A regular sitting and sleeping pattern usually is possible after 6 weeks. Always consult with your surgeon to find out what applies to you.

Of course, we will keep a close eye on your recovery. The first check-up takes place after 1 or 2 days. The next check-up is by appointment, about 3 weeks after the surgery.

As with any surgical procedure, there are risks. After a Brazilian butlift, there may be the following specific risks:

Blood clots or a pulmonary embolism (we try to prevent this with preventive medication)

Infections (we try to prevent this by prescribing preventive antibiotics)

Changes in sensitivity. This can be temporary, but patients sometimes have less or no sensation permanently. Think carefully about this because although this hardly ever happens, you can usually do nothing about it.

Although the surgeon considers the natural change in volume, there may be too much fat absorption. On average, 65 – 85% of the injected fat remains.
